“My fashion philosophy is, if you’re not covered in dog hair, your life is empty.”

Elayne Boosler

It’s been four months since Raven joined our family and she has settled right in, and she truly is such a delight. She and Cody are finally getting along, well maybe I should say Cody is tolerating Raven better, and while she loves him so much, he will have nothing to do with her. The funny part though, when it’s close to time to be fed, they both gang up on me to let me know it’s time, and he’s the instigator behind it. They both bring us so much joy!

I am happy to share that I have one ankle sock finally finished and will be starting the mate today. I love the shadow wrap heel and find that it is a perfect fit. Now it will be interesting to see how this type of heel wears. For these socks, I am using the lace design from the Los Monos Locos pattern, which is a toe up design but I like how it looks as a cuff down.

My cross stitch piece is almost finished, which makes me so happy. This will be perfect to hang on the door of my china cabinet or even on the pegs where I hang herbs to dry.

I’ve also been using my small sewing kit (pattern by A Spoonful of Sugar ) that I made several years ago. I currently use it to hold my embroidery scissors, needles and pins. It’s not perfect, but I truly love it so much that I want to make another one.

I feel like I am behind in my reading of late but it’s been difficult for me to find just the right book to read. I could not quite get into  A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn and have put this book back on the shelf and will try reading it at a later time. Do you ever have that issues with books?

📚 I am currently reading Tracey Chevalier’s book,  A Single Thread , and have to say I wan’t quite sure about at the beginning but find that I am truly enjoying.

After the Great War took both her beloved brother and her fiancé, Violet Speedwell has become a “surplus woman,” one of a generation doomed to a life of spinsterhood after the war killed so many young men. Yet Violet cannot reconcile herself to a life spent caring for her grieving, embittered mother. After countless meals of boiled eggs and dry toast, she saves enough to move out of her mother’s place and into the town of Winchester, home to one of England’s grandest cathedrals. There, Violet is drawn into a society of broderers–women who embroider kneelers for the Cathedral, carrying on a centuries-long tradition of bringing comfort to worshippers.

🎧 I am also still listening to The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny and enjoying. I have been trying to listen to it during my workday but sometimes it’s just too busy for me to do so.

🎥 I have started watching a few new to me vloggers as well and thought I would share with you in case you would be interested.

What have you all been up too?

Have a lovely day and a wonderful week!

  1. Your fur babies are precious. I have dog hair all the time on me. I went to Church this morning and saw I had lots of Enrique on me. Your little keeper pouch is cute. I like the quilted top on it. I am still reading Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe and loving it. It did take me a few chapters to get invested but now I have a hard time putting it down.

    • Thank you Marsha, they are such joy. Dog hair seems to be part of having our fur babies, but for me I don’t care as I love having them in our lives. Midnight At The Blackbird Cafe is such a good read and glad you are enjoying it.

  2. I’m so glad to hear they’re getting along better! I’m sure Cody will warm up more to her eventually, but if you’re an old man who’s been used to being an only dog for a while, it’s got to be a lot to adjust to to have a relative puppy in the house!

    • Thank you Sarah and yes, it’s a big adjustment for him but I’m proud of him as he has come along way, considering he has been the top dog for the last 9 years (our female senior dog passed away at that time).

  3. Your ankle socks look amazing! Nice cross stitching, and love that little sewing pouch, looks perfect to me.

Glad you are getting so much joy from your puppers. It reminds me that I need to stop getting irritated with ours and just enjoy them. I am more of a cat person (I have 5!), and Hubs had to have a dog to keep his sanity – lol! We ended up adopting two, and so now we have a house full of fur that rolls around on the floor. 😀

  4. Aww, your pups look so content!

I love your socks! I just knit my first one (check it out on my blog). I have a hole at the gusset, would appreciate any direction so that doesn’t happen again.

Cross stitch… I like to do it but I already have too many things that I can’t keep up with. LOL!

Hope you have a great week! I’m off to check out Two Purls in a Pod! Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you Monica all the way around, and yes, they are very contented pups. So to help avoid holes I would make sure the first few stitches are knitted tight by gently tugging the yarn. By doing this it will help you from having holes.

    • And if tightening things up doesn’t do it for you, when you get to the hole – or where holes always form – pick up and knit a stitch from below, decreasing it on the next round. Works for me – I hate having holes!

  5. LOVE your quote at the top of the page. Totally agree!!! My son has had to admit their second dog has been a real blessing both to him and his girlfriend but also to the dog they already had. Your socks are beautiful. Both the pattern and the chosen yarns.

    • Thank you Maureen, I thought it was a great quote for pet owners. I think having a second dog helps at times, it gives them a pal to play with. Thank you about the socks, I’m enjoying knitting them.

  6. It is nice that the two dogs can coexist peacefully. They are sweet. The sock looks very nice with that pattern. I’m intrigued by your little sewing kit. I have a book with a pattern for both a little needle book and a sewing kit. I’ve been thinking about making one or both as I’ve been embroidering on my tablerunner.

    • I love my little sewing kit and proud of myself for taking the time to make it too. It was a fun project and I really want to make another one. A needle book would be nice too ☺️
