Goodbye March

The month is almost over, and a new month is quietly waiting in the wings with new possibilities and adventures. Even though March was a busy month for me, it’s ending on a good note.

I did a bit of spring cleaning and took a lot of “stuff” to Goodwill. It feels good to unload things we no longer need, want or use, and maybe someone else will be able to use what was donated.

I also rearranged a few things, including our books, and decided to move all my mystery books into a vintage cabinet I have in our spare room, which is my office and crafting area. I love how they look in the cabinet and have been on the hunt for a few more to add since listening to the She Dunnit Podcast and the Clued In Mystery Podcast. Both of these podcasts talk about crime writers from the 1920s to 1960s, and now I want to add a few of these authors to my mystery collection too.

I took a break from working on my Mimungo sweater and casted on a sock to work on for a while, and I love it! As mentioned in a few posts back, I lost my sock project while attending a business meeting. I’m not too upset about it as I had divided the yarn into two cakes and I’m so glad I did! I’m making a pair of shorty socks using a leftover yarn (Momma Jess Knits in the colorway It’s Fall Y’All) for the cuff and toe, and using the lace design from the Los Monos Locos pattern by Jennifer Sullivan. The main yarn is from the January Sock Squad yarn subscription and I really like how it looks with the pinks in the contrast color. I decided to try the Shadow Wrap heel again too, and really like how it looks and I think I finally have the hang it. I love learning new things and hopefully this will be a nice fitting heel too.

📚Reading has been hit and miss for me this month but I am still reading A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn and still really enjoying it. It’s a refreshing change of pace for me and I am looking forward to reading all the books in the series.

🎧 I started listening to The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny at the beginning of this week and enjoying it too.

The only other thing I have going on is drawing and I started an owl. I have no idea how it will turn out but I am having fun and I’m excited about drawing again.

The pink looks lovely with that sock squad yarn. I am using my leftovers on a shawl and I am also pairing it with some pinks. I took a load to the thrift shop this week too. It does feel good. I am ruthlessly sorting my fabrics and yarns. When I have things I no longer love, it can mess with my creative energies.

    • Thank you Juliann and I think the pink compliments it well. It does feel good to unload things, especially if it’s just taking up space that can be used for something else, and you’re right it can mess with creative energy too.

  3. I love the main color and the pink contrasting yarn in the sock. They are very pretty together. It does feel good to sort through things and move some on to a new home. I have a few corners on my Spring list.

  7. The bookcase looks wonderful and so inviting! I have read posts about the shadow wrap heel but have never tried it. I am currently attempting a short row heel and gusset for my toe up socks. I am on attempt number 2! The owl is one of my favorite birds, but I have only seen one in the wild once.

    • Thank you ReginaMary ☺️ I like short row heels too but always seem to use the traditional heel/flap. I love owls and we have a mated pair of great horned owls that we see often. They are huge!

  9. What a pretty sock! I had forgotten all about that pattern, but it works so well with the yarn. I also like the start of your owl drawing a lot.
