I casted on the Barley hat on Tuesday the 16th and finished it early this morning. I love this hat pattern for its shear simplicity and that it’s always a quick knit. I made this hat a bit bigger just in case I decide to gift it to my dad, who likes to take early morning walks no matter if it’s chilly or warm, and he likes blue. If I decide not to gift it, it’s the perfect slouchy hat for me.
For this project I used just about three quarters (60 grams) of a full skein of the last of my Swans Island American Collection stash and have enough leftover yarn from my two projects to make a pair of fingerless mitts. I highly recommend this pattern for beginner knitters to advanced knitters, and for gift giving too because it’s an unisex design.
I plan to wind my Sock Squad yarn later today and cast on socks. I still haven’t decided it I am making a pair of plain vanilla socks or a pair of socks with a simple design. I will be looking through all my sock patterns to see if anything catches my eye that would be a good match to the yarn color. Meantime, I am leaning towards another pair of Hermione’s Every Day socks, but we’ll see what else I can find.
